2012 is going to be a great year for the movies. New ones from Werner Herzog and Steve Mcqueen, new ones from Jason Reitman, Whit Stillman and Alexander Payne. Honorary mention perhaps for Christmas 2011’s new one from David Fincher? These have all been and gone and yet there’s still …
NEW Christopher Nolan! NEW Ridley Scott! NEW David Cronenberg!
And to a lesser extent … The Hobbit! The Great Gatsby! Skyfall! The Bourne Legacy! Anna Karenina! On the Road!
There’ll be tears, there’ll be laughter, there’ll be surprises, and there’ll even be – please God no! – disappointments. But whatever happens, I couldn’t just sit this one out so the Viewfinder General is back.
Things will probably be a little different this time round, for one thing I don’t know that I’ll have the time to stay so breathlessly up to the minute with all the news and reviews. But postings will be regular and with all the extra experience we gained on our sabbatical Viewfinder 2.0 can only be better and stronger than ever.
Now, on with the inane posts about trailers and super-hero films!
